As soon as the month of Shravan arrives, everyone starts diving in the devotion of Shiva. In this auspicious festival, Kavadiyas from all North India and other states go to the holy dham of Shiva and bring Ganges water from there and perform Jalabhishek of Shiva.
Kavadis have to walk barefoot far away and bring Ganga water and the condition is that Kavadi, Shiva does not keep Kavad in the ground. Thus, the devotees of Shiva bring water to the Ganga by facing many difficulties and do water abhishek of Shiva from it.
But have you ever wondered who would be the first person who was the first Kavadi and the first person who received the blessings of Lord Shiva by performing Jalabhishek and this tradition started. Rishi Jamdagni respected him very well and didnot let any shortage in his service. Sahastrabahu was very pleased with the respect and respect of Rishi but he was not able to understand how an ordinary and poor sage was able to collect so much food for him and his army.
Then he found out from his soldiers that Rasihi Jamdagni has a divine cow named Kamdhenu. Ask anything from whom she provides everything.
When the king came to know that due to this Kamdhenu cow, Rishi Jamdagni was able to collect resources, Sahastrabahus mind was greed to get that cow.
She asked for Kamdhenu cow from Rishi but Rishi Jamdagni refused to give Kamdhenu to cow. Sahtrabahu got extremely indicted on this and killed Rishi Jamdagni to get Kamdhenu cow.
When Parshuram found out that Sahastrabahu had killed his father and took Kamdhenu cow with him, he became extremely angry. They cut all the arms of Sahastrabahu and killed him. Later Parshuram re-lifeed his father Jamadagni with his austerity effect. When Rishi came to know that Parshuram killed Sahastrabahu, he asked Parshurama ji to perform Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva to repent.
Then Parshuram walked away with his fathers command and brought Ganga water and established Shivling near the ashram and performed Mahabhishek of Shiva and praised him.
The proof of the area in which Parshuram established Shivling is still present. That area comes in Uttar Pradesh and the whole name of Mahadev (Pura Mahadev)
